\nThis explanation by John Mueller was a response to the following question by a website owner:<\/span>
\n\u201cI recently changed the layout, look, and feel of my blog and moved away from WordPress. And now using Hugo static site generator for publishing my posts.<\/span><\/i>
\nDoes the change in layout impact my ranking and search results?<\/span><\/i>
\nOn a side note, there\u2019s no change in the content and the URL structure. It\u2019s still the same as before.\u201d<\/span><\/i>

\n\u201cChanging the layout of your pages can affect your search results.<\/span><\/i>
\nThis is something that some people work on actively as well with regards to on-page SEO.<\/span><\/i>
\nSo things like figuring out how to use titles properly on a page, how to do internal linking properly, how to provide more context for the article itself.<\/span><\/i>
\nAll of this can definitely affect SEO.\u201d<\/span><\/i>
\nHe further added:<\/span>
\n\u201cSo just because the\u2026 kind of the primary content like the blog posts that you have and the URLs themselves don\u2019t change doesn\u2019t mean that there\u2019s nothing else around all of that, that search engines won\u2019t be able to pick up on.<\/span><\/i>
\nIt can definitely affect SEO. And it can be a good thing; it can be a bad thing.<\/span><\/i>
\nSo it\u2019s not that you need to avoid making these changes, but rather when you make these changes, make sure to double-check that you\u2019re kind of doing everything really well.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
