The Google Speed was scheduled to be released sometime in July 2018.<\/p>\n<p><u><a href=\"https:\/\/webmasters.googleblog.com\/2018\/01\/using-page-speed-in-mobile-search.html\">Google\u2019s original blog post<\/a><\/u> has also been updated; it now says that the speed update is \u201crolling out to all users.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The algorithm will only affect mobile search rankings of the slowest websites on the web. Moreover, it is expected that \u201conly a small percentage of websites\u201d will be affected by the Google Speed Update.<\/p>\n<p>The question is: does your website fall into the \u201cslowest websites on the web\u201d category?<\/p>\n<p>No one can be certain about it. Google hasn\u2019t highlighted any specific metrics to gauge that. However, there are tools that you can use to see if your website is doing good or not. Following are three tools that you should use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/speed\/pagespeed\/insights\/\">Page Insights tool<\/a><\/u><\/li>\n<li><u><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/web\/tools\/lighthouse\/\">Lighthouse<\/a><\/u><\/li>\n<li><u><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/web\/tools\/chrome-user-experience-report\/\">Google Chrome User Experience report<\/a><\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One important point to remember here is that although speed is a big ranking signal, your website may still rank highly if it fails the Google Speed Update trial. In order to that, your website has to have excellent and relevant content for the readers. In that case, Google Speed Update will negatively affect your website, but it will still be able to stay on a relatively higher position.<\/p>\n<p>Google says that the idea is to improve the search user experience.
