Google recently updated its Rich Result testing tool. According to the new update, you can now edit the code directly in the Rich Results testing tool and see how those edits would look like in real time.<\/p>\n

This announcement by Google was made as a part of the Chrome Developer Summit.<\/p>\n

How does it work?<\/h2>\n

Once you put in the URL and run the eligibility test on the Rich Results testing tool, you can click into the code section on the left side. This will allow you to make edits directly in the code.<\/p>\n

Once you have edited the code, just click the \u201crun test\u201d button again. Once the test is run again, you will be able to see in real time the changes and how the edited code would impact the rich results.<\/p>\n

What are rich results?<\/h2>\n

Google defines rich results as following:<\/p>\n

\u201cRich results are search results that go beyond the standard blue link, they may include a carousel, image or other non-textual UI elements.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

As you may know, rich results are designed to highlight critical information to help readers and search engine crawlers better understand the content of a web page as accurately as possible. Rich results in the search engine results pages (SERPs) may also increase organic click-through rate<\/a><\/u> (CTR).<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/h2>\n

This new update by Google appears to be a small one. However, it would give webmasters and search engine experts more confidence when making changes to their core code.<\/p>\n
